Anatomical Atlas of the Upper Limb Related to Neuromodulator Injection and the Management of Spasticity is an eLearning program intended to be used as a quick and accessible reference for injectors during the course of their education and clinical practice.
Our team has supported toxin and chemodenervation procedures with our Myoguide injection guidance device for over a decade. Myoguide is the premier handheld, EMG, and ESTIM-guided injection device in the market today. We have been working with the latest augmented reality technology over the years to be able to illustrate anatomy in the simplest, most accessible way.
The first prototype of our anatomical arm was debuted over three years ago, to illustrate the value of augmented reality for learning platforms. The ARm prototype was based on a palpable anatomical arm that could be rotated within the view of an AR-based application, which superimposed 3D anatomy over the physical arm. This simulation was an incredible application of AR to illustrate chemodenervation procedures. It was not very convenient or stable but did illustrate the value of AR for illustrating concepts.
The Anatomical Atlas of The Upper Limb Related to Neuromodulator Injection and the Management of Spasticity was created to provide a brief review of the anatomy of the arm, highlighting the vast majority of muscles likely to be managed by neuromodulators and chemodenervation. Our goal is to provide a handy reference guide to review salient details of these procedures for educational purposes without the encumbrance of a physical model.
Our 3D-rendered virtual anatomical model of the arm, Francis, can be a valuable resource to display the anatomy of the upper limb. The virtual arm model highlights the muscles in question and can be rotated and viewed in either longitudinal or cross-sectional views for further investigation. Other muscles can be selected during exploration, and the model can be reset back to the beginning muscle to restart the exploration.
